Carole Spurlock Dickey

President

This is the second time Carole has served as President of the Huntsville, TX ZTA Alumnae Chapter. She enjoyed being actively involved in the chapter before moving from Huntsville to Centerville, and she's happy to have the opportunity to serve again. Carole has worked for more than 30 years in public education and currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Centerville ISD. She and her husband Steve have one adult son and a precious granddaughter. Carole loves to travel and she loves Zeta history. One day, she hopes to travel to the ZTA International Office to see the beautifully preserved artifacts on display.

Tami has been a passionately involved alumna ever since she graduated from Sam Houston State University as a member of the Delta Zeta Chapter. In addition to currently serving the Huntsville Alumnae Chapter as VPIII-Fundraising, she has served as the Huntsville Alumnae Chapter President (12 years) and at the same time was Membership Advisor and General Advisor for Delta Zeta Chapter. She was Province President XI -Gamma for 10 years, Mentor of the Iota Chi Chapter, Middle Tennessee State University (5 years), and currently is Province President XI-Beta. Family is very important to her. She has two stepsons, a daughter-in-law, and four beautiful grandchildren. She and her husband, Larry, are also the pet parents of a Labradoodle puppy, Charlie. They lived in Houston, where Tami worked for Sysco Corporation, until four years ago when they moved "home" to Huntsville. Tami loves to travel and enjoys being with friends.

Kelly Murphy Young

Kelly graduated from SHSU in 1982 where she pledged ZTA in the Fall of 1978. She lives with her husband, Scott, in an empty nest in The Woodlands. They have 3 children – Jay, Alex and Sarah. Sarah is a current member of the Theta Gamma chapter at Texas A&M. Kelly works part-time as an academic advisor at Lone Star College. She has served both as New Member Advisor and General Advisor for Delta Zeta at SHSU and is looking forward to serving as an alumnae officer this year.

Susan Gregory Bohan

Treasurer

Our treasurer, Susan Gregory Bohan, is also the Province President for XI-Delta which includes SHSU and SFA. After forty years in education, she recently retired but is teaching Math Methods at SHSU where she graduated in 1980 (BAT) and 1982 (M.Ed.). Her ZTA life began in the spring of 1979 and has continued through active involvement in both the advisor and officer roles for the Delta Zeta chapter and the Huntsville Alumnae Chapter. Susan and her ZTA sisters get together once a year for a fun trip to share the special bond of sisterhood formed all those years ago. Today, her grandchildren hold the key to her heart. She has three little legacies, with another precious baby arriving later this year.

Julia Defee May

Historian-Reporter

Julia is a Louisiana native, but calls Texas home after living here for more than 40 years. For 37 of those years, she served in various positions with Sam Houston State University's public relations department and retired in 2017 as the Associate Director of Communications. She continues to freelance for the university's College of Arts & Media and assists with its annual magazine. She recently was honored with ZTA's White Violet Pin for 50 years of active involvement with the Fraternity. Julia has served in a number of advisor and officer roles for the Delta Zeta Chapter and the Huntsville Alumnae Chapter, including President. She and her husband, Jim, are the parents of two grown sons and the grandparents of a grandson who was born in Hawaii.

Susan Doherty Cason

Collegiate Recruitment Ambassador

Originally from West, Texas, Susan is in her 15th year of teaching math at Huntsville High School. She pledged at SHSU in Fall 2003. She is a Legacy, with her mother Kathy pledging Delta Zeta Chapter at SHSU in 1971, her older sister Sarah pledging at Texas State in 2000 before transferring to SHSU, and her younger sister Laura pledging at SHSU in Fall 2005. Susan and her husband Kirby have two sons, Ross, age 6, and James, age 1. She currently serves as the Risk Reduction & Education Advisor and Judicial Advisor for the Delta Zeta Chapter and has previously served as Ritual Advisor.
